Train Tickets Booking By SMS | Rail Tickets Booking via SMS

Train Tickets Booking through SMS- Union Railway minister Mallikarjuna Kharge on Friday (28-06-2013) in Delhi, launched SMS based train ticket booking service through two dedicated numbers, 139 and 5676714. The facility will be used only by those who are registered with the IRCTC (Indian Railway catering and Tourism Corporation).

For booking train tickets through SMS, the passenger will need to register the mobile Number with IRCTC (Indian Railway catering and Tourism Corporation) as well as with the bank account. The bank provides MMID (Mobile Money Identifier) and OTP (One Time Password) for authorization of payment.

“The passenger has to type the Train Number, destination, Journey date, class and Passenger details on the SMS box. The sender will receive transaction ID  and then make payment through sending another SMS by typing PAY followed by the transaction ID, MMID has received from the bank and pin and with this the passenger’s ticket will be booked”, said  IRCTC (Indian Railway catering and Tourism Corporation) chairman and managing director  Rakesh Tandon.

The service will be available to all the mobile subscribers. Each SMS will be Charged at Rs.3/- rate and payment gateway charges are Rs.5/- for ticket amount up to Rs.5000/- and Rs.10/- for more than Rs.5000/-.

Note: people can book train tickets, not only SMART PHONES, even Ordinary MOBILE PHONES also

Understanding the Process:

1.      First you have need to Register Your Mobile Number with  your Bank account

2.      Then You will get MMID (Mobile Money Identifier), OTP (One Time Password) from the Bank

3.      Now you have to Register your MOBILE NUMBER with IRCTC

Now the Initial Process will be completed, then you can Book train tickets by sending SMS

4. Type: TRAIN NUMBER <SPACE>DESTINATION<SPACE>JOURNEY DATE<SPACE>CLASS<SPACE> NAME<SPACE>AGE<SPACE>GENDER

Send It to 139 or 5676714

Then after you will get one Reply SMS with TRANSACTION ID

Then you have to send another SMS like

5. Type:  PAY<SPACE>TRANSACTION ID<SPACE>MMID<SPACE>OTP
