Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories reported its second quarter net profit 69.41% over the corresponding period last year.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd has won a case against New Delhi based Reddy Pharmaceutical limited relating to a trade mark dispute on 1st November. The intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB) has ordered the registrar of trademarks to remove the registered trade mark “Reddy” of the latter.

Konda Srivatva won the Asian Under -14 Tennis Championships in boys final and Sama Sathiwika Won Asian Under -14 Tennis Championships in girls final.

Seven years old Franzonia entered the Guinness Book of World Records by memorizing the Pi value of 222 digits after the decimal within a minute.

2nd November

Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar from Indian team won gold in 18th Asian Archery Championship Mixed Team defeating Choi Misun and Ku bonchan of Korea in final.

Laishram Bombayla Devi earned India the Bronze medal in the Women’s individual event of the 18th Asian Archery Championship defeating Joo Hyun Jung of Korea.

India clinched the seven-match series 3-2 over Australia. Man of the match and series is Rahul Sharma (209 Runs). This is the 3rd double century in the history of One-Day Internationals (ODI).

3rd November

Indian men officially confirmed their presence at the 2014 hockey World Cup.

Australia won the Oceania Cup on 3rd November.

D. Rajendra Babu, Kannada filmmaker and Screenplay writer, died on 3rd November 2013.

Legendary Pakistani folk singer Reshma died in Lahore on 3rd November 2013. Reshma was known as Nightingale of the desert.

Former Lok Sabha MP and Revenue Secretary Nitish Sengupta died on 3rd November 2013. He was 80.

4th November

Yuki Bhambri won the challenger tennis tournament in the final and defeated the top seeded Bradley Klahn of the U.S in Traralgon, Australia.

Romanian Simona Halep defeated Australian Samantha Stosur to clinch the season ending tournament (Tennis) of Champions on 3rd November for her sixth title of the season. Halep won $270,000 for her title and rose to No.11 in the new ranking.

Werder Bremen snatched a 3-2 win over Hanover in the German Bundesliga on 3rd November (Football).

Crude Oil imports from Tehran to India have dropped by 40% this year. Iran had Some time ago conveyed to India its opposition to the 100% Rupee Payment mechanism and had refused to ship oil deliveries under this mechanism. It had said that it was going back to the 45% rupee mechanism payment system and the balance had to be paid either in euro, yen or ruble. One more reason for these declining imports is the failure to make the oil insurance pool fund operational.

Axis Bank has tied up with FICO to use FICO Falcon Fraud Manager Solution to enable detection and prevention of fraud in its consumer banking portfolio, including credit and debit cards, ATM transactions and the merchant acquiring business.

Cognizant Technology Solutions announced its third quarter ending 30th September 2013, reported a rise of 15% in net profit.

United India Insurance Company (UIIC) has announced a 4% of rise in its net Profit for the half year ended 30th September 2013.

 India’s Prestigious interplanetary mission to Mars (PSLV-C25) launched on 5th November:
Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C25 is the first launch pad of the spaceport (ISRO) at Sriharikota and put the Mars Orbiter precisely into its earth-orbit about 44 minutes later. The spacecraft first going into orbit around the earth signaled the start of its 300 day voyage to the red planet. If everything goes well during this complex and challenging journey through deep space, it will be put into the mars orbit on 24th September 2014.

Highlights of PSLV-C25: It was the longest PSLV mission at 44 minutes and this was the silver jubilee lift of PSLV.

6th November

Navy inducted Four Hawk Mk-132 AJT aircrafts:
The Navy inducted four Hawk Mk-132 Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft (AJT) at INS Dega, the base of the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. The fourth generation AJT aircraft built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and these were inducted by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi in the presence of Flag officer Commanding-in-chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Anil Chopra at the ceremony at INS Dega.

SBI hiked its lending rates and base rates by 20 basis points:
SBI has hiked its lending rates by 20 basis points from 14.55% to 14.75% and also hiked the base rate by 20 basis points from 9.80% to 10%. This hike will also impact other retail loans such as home loans and auto loans.

Venezuela’s President announced that December 8th as Public Holiday:
Venezuela’s government is honouring the Late Hugo Chavez with a public holiday of “Loyalty and love to the supreme commander” of the South American Nation’s socialist revolution. The government announced December 8th as public holiday in honour of the leader. This holiday commemorates Chavez’s final public appearance.

The 19th Kolkata International Film Festival 2013 was inaugurated by Actor Amitabh Bachchan on 10th November 2013. This year’s Kolkata International Film Festival starts from 10th November 2013 and this will be scheduled for 8 days means upto 17th November 2013. This Kolkata International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Kolkata.

Pakistan (Gold) won the men’s title in Asian Champions Trophy Hokey defeated Japan (Silver). Malaysia won Bronze defeated China. India defeated Oman for 5th place.

India’s Augustine Yesudas (100m) and S. Archana (100m) emerged the fastest of the meet with the time of 10.61 and 12.06 respectivly. They were created new records and they were clinched gold in boy’s and girl’s sections respectively in 2nd South Asian junior athletics.

The Serbian Tennis Federation (FTS) announced that Davis Cup final will be played on hard surface. The Davis Cup final will be held between Serbia and the Czech Republic in Belgrade.

Vijaya Bank reported net profit 10% growth for the second quarter ended 30th September 2013 compared to previous year.

Corporation Bank reported its second quarter net profit declined sharply to Rs. 15.48 crore.

Honeywell announced the appointment of Jim Bujold as President, Southeast Asia and Ananth Maheswari as president, Honeywell India.

12th November

Industrial output grew 2% in September.

The U. S software giant Microsoft will retire support services for its most widely used Operating system Windows XP. April 8, 2014, marks the end of 12 years of free technical support, which Microsoft claims is the longest extended for any software product and service.

Canara Bank reported a 5.29% decline in net profit during the second quarter ended September 30, 2013.

R. K. Dubey is the chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank.

Sundaram Infotech Solutions has won three ERP deals for undisclosed sum. The deals comprise its fist government order in India, first onsite deal in the UAE, and an IT consulting deal in Australia.

David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco won the ATP World Tour Doubles title defeated Bob and Mike Bryan.

The 18th International Children’s Film Festival of India will be held in Hyderabad from 14th – 20th November 2013.

Union Cabinet approved the B.Sc Community Health Course in State Universities. This was proposed by government for the creation of a specialized cadre of health care workers for rural areas.

State Bank of India (SBI) reported its second quarter net profit of Rs. 2,375 crore as on 30th September 2013 compared to previous year.

Mahindra and Mahindra reported a net profit of 10% growth for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013 compared to previous year.

The 18th International Children’s Film Festival of India inaugurated by Union Minister of information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari  on 14th November 2013 in Hyderabad.

Karur Vysya Bank reported its second quarter net profit declined by 37.6% compared to previous year net profit.

CII President’s Award to Ratan Tata:
Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata received CII President’s Award for his remarkable contribution to Industry and National Building. The award was given by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on 15th November 2013.

16th November

INS Vikramaditya was inducted into the Indian Navy after a delay of more than 5 years at the chilly northern Russian Shipyard of sevmash, at Severodvinsk.

Yuki Bhambri won $ 10,000 ITF men’s Futures Tennis Tournment and defeated Sriram Balaji in the final at the DLTA Complex.

Kartikey Gulshan Kumar and Kanika Kanwal, both from Delhi won Boy’s and girl’s under-15 singles titles of the 27th sub- junior National Badminton Championship at Cuttack.

Private equity firm  Warburg Pincus announced that Mr. Timothy Geithner would serve as President and Managing director of the firm starting March 1, 2014. Mr. Geithner is a former U. S. Treasury Secretary.

 Farewell to Sachin Tendulkar:

Sachin Tendulkar careers last test Series at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 16th November 2013. He gave a farewell speech and thanked many of those who had played an important role in shaping his glorious career.

The announcement of Bharat Ratna award, India’s Highest Civilian Award:

Government of India announced the India’s highest civilian award for Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and also for Scientist C. N. R. Rao on 16th November 2013. Sachin Tendulkar is the first Sportsperson to be chosen for the honour. He retired from All forms of Cricket on 16th November and he has a 24 years record breaking career in cricket. C.N.R Rao is the third Scientist to receive this prestigious award after C.V. Raman and Former president A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

17th November

Sachin Tendulkar has ended his recording breaking 200-Test career by finishing 18th in the ICC Player Rankings for test batsmen as he jumped five places in the latest chart released on 17th November 2013.

Manipur won under-14 National Football title over Maharashtra 3-1 in the final at the Kalyani Stadium on 17th November 2013. N. Dhurba Singh Scored a hat-trick.

Jamaican Sprinters Usain Bolt and Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce won the male and female World Athletes of the year for 2013 by the sport’s governing IAAF at a ceremony in Monacco.

Mahesh Mangaokar won the men’s open title over Kush Kumar in the 70th CCI- western India Open squash Tournament at the CCI Courts on 17th November.

The New President of Maldives is:

Abdulla Yaameen elected as the President of Maldives and He succeeded Maumoon Abdul Gayoom who ruled the country for about three decades. Abdulla Yaameen won the election narrowly with 3% votes higher than his rival.

Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM):

Commonwealth Summit (CHOGM) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Final day of CHOGM, the journalists raising questions to Sri Lankan President on how much time he needed to complete the probe into the allegations, for that the Sri Lankan President, Mahindra Rajapaksa said at press conference “We need time, this can’t be done overnight. A process is already in place”. Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma said the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group was composed afresh at CHOGM 2013. India, Cyprus, Guyana, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka and Tanzania will be on CHAG for the next 2 years the communiqué said.

Rafael Nadal was confirmed as the World number one at the end of the 2013 season and Novak Djokovic was in 2nd rank.

ICICI launches Regulation S Bonds:

ICICI bank launched a U.  S dollar denominated RegS benchmark bond sale programme . Regulation S bonds are those offered to non-U. S residents and qualified Institutional buyers (under an exception to U. S securies laws enacted in 1990), and do not enjoy the small legal protection as other issues do.

RBI decided to provide liquidity support to MSEs:

Rs 5,000 crore liquidity support to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) through the Small Industrial Development Bank of India (SIDBI) including incremental credit to medium enterprises to qualify as priority sector lending.

19th November

19th November observed as National Integration Day (Indira Gandhi Birthday).

President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Best University Award 2012-2013 to Mangalore University, Karnataka.

International Film Festival of India (IFFI):

This is the 44th edition of the International Film Festival of India. This will be started from 20th November 2013 in Goa. This is also 10th time the festival is being hosted in Goa coincidentally. Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon will inaugurate the festival on 20th November.

First Women bank in India:

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the first branch of Women commercial bank of India in Mumbai. Name of the bank is “Bharatiya Mahila Bank” and it’s CMD Usha Ananthasubramanian.

Indira Gandhi Prize 2013:

Indira Gandhi memorial Trusted announced that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be honoured with the Indira Gandhi Prize for peace, Disarmament and development for 2013 for her exemplary leadership in Europe and the world during the financial crisis and her stewardship of German economic growth.

20th November

Barcelona’s Argentine Star stricker Lionel Messi (Football) received Golden Shoe Award on 20th November as the top league scorer in Europe for his 46 goals in the 2012-2013 seasons. This is Messi’s 3rd Golden shoe award.

Indian Women’s hockey coach Inderjit Singh Gill was died in car crash. He had been working with women’s and junior teams since 1999. He was 59.

Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX) had signed an agreement with China based Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) to boost strategic co-operation.

European Union Prestigious Sakharov Human Rights Prize 2013 to Malala Yousafzai (16) for her crusade for the right of all children, the Prize was given by Martin Schulz, president of European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

Engineering Excellence award 2013 was conferred on the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL).

21st November

Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli reached 5000 run mark in ODIs in his 114 innings and He became fastest Batsman in ODIs when he scored 86 against West Indies on 21st November 2013 in Kerala.

Cadila Pharmaceuticals launched a new lung cancer drug, Mycidac-C. The drug is priced at Rs. 40,000 for a 10 course injection, much cheaper than the drugs manufactured.

Rohini (RH) 200 took to the sky to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in Thiruvananthapuram on 21st November 2013.

22nd November

World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen won the 12th World Chess title and defeated 5 times World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand in Chennai. The 22 year old Norwegian Magnus Carlsen won the title after drew the 10th game with Anand after 65 moves (6.5 – 3.5).

Former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice Ajit Prakash Shah has taken over as chairman of the 20th Law commission of India.

Former Union Finance Secretary G. Ramachandran passed away. He was 86.

Aaron Agnel D’Souza bagged the 200m freestyle Gold in 67th National aquatics Championship at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Aquatic Complex in Thiruvananthapuram.

Ramandeep Singh became the highest paid Indian Player in the Hockey India League (HIL) when he was snapped up for the whopping $81,000 in the players closed bid.

23rd November

The 13 year old Manna Patel from Gujarat set a new national record in the 50m backstroke at the 67th National aquatics championship in Thiruvananthapuram.

Krishna District’s T. Nagaraju and Prakasam’s P. Yesu Babu won gold medals in the 50kg and 56kg categories respectively in the state under-16 weightlifting competitions held at Kethanakonda in Vijayawada.

Sriram Balaji won $15,000 ITF men’s Future tennis tournament and defeated third seeded Na jungwoong of Korea in the final at the Arera club, Bhopal.

Dhanush missile test fired successfully. Dhanush is the naval version of Surface to Surface missile Prithvi, which can carry nuclear warheads. Dhanush can cover a distance of 250Km and carry a 500Kg payload. These missile are produced by DRDO.

14 year old Aravind Chithambaram won the Chennai Open International Grandmaster tournament at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

24th November

Krishna Boys and Kurnool Girls won the Andhra Pradesh State Under-16 weightlifting competitions under PYKKA scheme at Kethanakonda on 24th November 2013. Krishna boys got 31 points and Kurnool girls got 23 points to top the table.

Nuclear deal between Iran with US, including Five world Power countries:
The nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 (the U.S, the U. K, France, Russia, China and Germany) and They signed the agreement on 24th November 2013 in Geneva. It was chaired by the EU’s Foreign Policy chief, Catherine Ashton, for whom the deal represents a personal triumph. The six month life of the Geneva deal is intended to be used to negotiate a comprehensive and permanent settlement that would allow Iran to pursue a peaceful programme.

Madhya Pradesh polls will start on 25th November 2013 in 53,946 polling stations to elect 230 MLAs to the 14th Vidhan Sabha.

25th November

The Reserve Bank of India has clarified that conversion of existing foreign bank branches into Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries in India will not attract capital gains tax or stamp duty.

TCS said it had bagged a deal from Keler Ltd., Hungary’s Central Securities Depository. Under this deal TCS will deploy the market infrastructure solution of TCS BANCS for modernizing its technology and set up its capability for T2S settlement.

Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani teenager shot in head by Taliban for campaigning for girls education along with Kainat Riaz and Shazia Ramzan, who were shot and wounded in swat valley last year, were chosen for the Garavi Gujarat 2 (GG2) Hammer Award 2013 for their bravery.

Nilton Santos, the galloping left back who was regular in Brazil’s World Cup winning sides of 1958 and 1962, was died in Rio. He was 88.

Asian Champion Murali Kumar of Indian Navy won the Rs 3 lakh prize money Talwalkar Classique bodybuilding championship on 28th November 2013 in Mumbai.
