President Pranab Mukherjee appointed Justice G. Rohini as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on 11th April 2014. She is the senior most judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court and she is the first woman chief justice of Delhi High Court.
President Pranab Mukherjee presented the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for 2013 on 11th April 2014.
12th April
Gulzar, famous film lyrisist and Director, has been chosen for Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of Indian cinema. The government declared this on 12th April 2014.

Former World Champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu won gold in the Shotgun World Cup in Tucson, US on 11th April 2014 and defeated two-time Olympic Champion Michael Diamond of Australia in the finals.

India born poet Vijay Seshadri won the Prestigious 2014 Pulitzer Prize in the poetry category for his collection of poems “3 Sections”.
The French Tennis Federation announced that the Prize money for this year’s French Open will top €25 million, more than 10 percent up on 2013.
