About University:                                    
 This is one of the largest public residential universities in Asia located in Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1929. The present Pro-Chancellor is Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy. The present chancellor is Konijeti Rosaiah. It offers several courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture and arts. The university campus including the colleges, hostels and play grounds occupies the area about thousand acres.

About Distance Education:

                                   This university was also established Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) in 1979. Now it offers more than 501 different programs of study under the regular stream. It has also offering uniquely first in India, PG programs in applied Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bioinformatics and Law through distance education. The DDE also offering programs on Fashion Design, Textile Design, Interior Design, Hotel Management and Catering Technology programs, Retail Management, Twinning program, programs on Health Science, Commonwealth Youth program, Yoga, Music, Fire and Safety, Pharmaceutical and Taxation programs.

                              All These study programs offered by the DDE have the approval of Distance Education counsil, New Delhi and introducing B.Ed. program through distance education mode from the year 2008-09 with the approval of National Council for Teaching Education, New Delhi.
